According to figures communicated by the Ministry of the Interior, in 2023, 97,288 people acquired French nationality, compared to nearly 130,385 people in 2021 (Report to Parliament, Foreigners in France, DILA. 2021, p. 145).
Among these people, 40,064 obtained it by decree (compared to 60,256 in 2022) and 55,105 by declaration (compared to 52,764 in 2022), including 19,455 by marriage.
In 2025, according to (provisional) data posted online by the Ministry of the Interior:
- 42,246 people acquired nationality by decree (a decrease of 13.5%), minor children, by collective effect, included;
- 17,579 people acquired it by declaration after marriage (an increase of 10.5% compared to the previous year);
- 2,410 people acquired the declaration of ancestors or siblings (an increase of 20.1% compared to the previous year).
